East Midlands largest public forest, with plenty for adults, children and dogs to do. There are cycle and walking routes, including a bike hire shop, 3 play areas with for the kids, a cafe and toilets. There is also Go Ape here which includes junior options, and segways to hire. There are plenty of maps around, but you can pick one up for free in the visitor centre, and places to have a picnic, or a BBQ (in certain marked spots) as well as open spaces to kick a ball about. Walk a mile or so into the forest and you can feel like you are in the middle of no where. Sherwood pines is a lovely day out and can be either budget friendly or blow the budget, depending on the activities you want to partake in.
